It’s so hard to find the perfect foundation. I’ve tried many foundations over the past years and I’d like to recommend the ones I like the best. I don’t usually hesitate to spend more money for better quality brands when it comes to foundation. Good foundation/powder is important as good moisturizer. I prefer liquid foundations and consider them best for my combination skin type.
Here are my all time favorites: Clinique Clarifying Makeup Clear Skin Formula I’ve used this foundation since I was a teen and had a bad complexion problems. I really loved it and used it for years. Fortunately, I don’t need it any more but I would always recommend this one. It’s perfect for oily skin types and acne prone skin. This foundation is oil-free, leaves skin matte and contains salicylic acid. It provides a great coverage. In my experience, the best way to apply it is with your fingertips because it’s a little thick and dries really fast. I don’t think this foundation would be good for combination skin types, but it works great for oily and very oily skins.
Yves Saint Laurent Matt Touch Foundation This is my current favorite, especially in spring/summer months. My skin just loves it. It provides matte finish, but skin never looks dull because of radiance booster pigments. This is actually the first foundation I’ve used that is both matte and yet skin looks so fresh and radiant. It lasts all day, has SPF 10, minimizes the look of pores, gives medium coverage, blends easily and leaves very smooth, even complexion. Just perfect. Great both for oily and combination skin types.
Dior DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup This stuff is amazing. I’ve always been a fan of Dior foundations. I mostly use it during the cold months. This is extremely long wearing foundation, goes on smoothly, has a great coverage and SPF 25. It looks really natural and you only need a little to get great coverage. I have combination skin type but I think this works great on all skins.
Givenchy Prisme Libre This is a must. The best loose powder I have ever tried. I use it over my foundation and during the day for touch ups. From givenchy.com: Four shades of powder merge for the first time to illuminate the complexion, an ultra soft texture, extremely fine and translucent. Luminous and very natural finish. A durably matified complexion without any chalky white appearance, instant and day-long extreme comfort. All I can say – they don’t lie. You can choose between light pastel (for light skin), delicate beige (harmonious for all skin types), sweet caramel (brings freshness), tender sun (for the holiday appeal), soft white (for transparent teint), fresh rose (very vital look). There are also limited editions like Poetique Orchid in the current Les Poetiques collection. I use Delicate beige and love it! (I know, I said it too many times.)
Dior DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation Evens out skin tone and visibly diminishes the appearance of fine lines and skin irregularities. Yep, that’s also true. Very very light foundation, goes on smoothly. I apply it with my fingertips, much better than spray on. Maybe the best way to apply it is with big foundation brush. Airflash is really expensive and maybe it’s best to save it for special occasions.
Guerlain Parure Extreme Luminous Extreme Wear Foundation I bought this one just the other day and so far so good. It’s long lasting, skin looks matte and glowing, minimizes the looks of pores, also has a great coverage. The only thing I don’t like is color selection. I’ll update in a few weeks.
